BBQ Baked Ribs: A Family Favorite

Introduction to BBQ Baked Ribs
Nothing says family gathering quite like a serving of BBQ baked ribs. This particular recipe, passed down from generation to generation since 2012, has stolen the heart of my son, who eagerly requests it every chance he gets. The combination of tender meat and a flavorful barbecue sauce is a surefire way to bring joy to any meal!
Gathering Your Ingredients
Before diving into cooking, gather the following ingredients:
St. Louis style baby back ribs (any amount you desire)
Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce
Seasoning salt
Garlic powder
Paprika
Pepper
Cinnamon
Each ingredient plays a vital role in creating that perfect flavor combination that makes the ribs so addictive!
Preparation and Cooking Steps
Now, let's get those ribs ready for the oven! Depending on your time and patience, you have two options for baking them:
For 8 hours, preheat your oven to 250°F.
For 5 hours, preheat your oven to 265°F.
Start by cutting the rack of ribs into 2 to 3 rib pieces. This makes it easier to handle, especially when it’s grilling time. Next, season both sides of the ribs generously with seasoning salt and garlic powder. Follow it up with a light sprinkle of paprika, a dash of pepper, and a very slight sprinkle of cinnamon. Don’t be shy with the seasoning, this is what makes the flavor pop!
Wrap each slab of baby back ribs in heavy-duty aluminum foil, ensuring the shiny side is facing down and the bone side is facing down as well. Once wrapped, place them in a shallow baking pan to catch any delicious juices that might escape. I’ve found that a baking tray with a 1 to 2-inch lip works perfectly for this.
Place the ribs in the oven and let them bake away! Once the cooking time is complete, it’s time to prepare the grill.
Grilling to Perfection
About 20 minutes before the ribs are done baking, start your BBQ fire using half the number of coals to create a cooler fire. Remember, you're not cooking these on the grill; you’re simply baking the BBQ sauce onto the ribs until they’re nice and sticky. Caramelizing them.
Carefully unwrap the ribs and brush one side with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. Place this sauced-side down on the grill and let it do its magic. While that side is grilling, brush the other side and flip them over. Just be cautious and avoid burning the ribs!
After a few minutes, you’ll have perfectly BBQ baked ribs that are sure to impress your family and friends! Serve them up and watch as everyone goes back for seconds—my son sure does!
